Qlik Sense QMC Task Names

This post is getting into the systems management side in that it puts forward a naming convention for tasks in the Qlik Sense Management Console (QMC).

When creating a QMC task these usually have default names prefixed with Reload…

Where task management becomes more complex is if there are a lot of reload tasks or relationships between tasks such as dependant task triggers.

The following is the structure we use that seems to work in the majority of implementations:

Object Parent  >  Object  >  Action

Where the elements are as follows:

Object Parent: This would be a stream name or a management function.  Optionally, and more for edge cases, if there is a need to group unrelated items then add in a preceding number eg 1.

Object: Usually the app name as it appears in the stream

Action: What the task is doing for example Reload and Distribute with any ancillary information in parenthesis such as the reload schedule

An example of a some task names based on this structure is:

Finance > Flash statements > (Daily 07:00)

Finance > CFO Summary > Reload (After Finance > Flash Statement > Reload)
